Two groups that have spent close to a century analyzing the effects of Wisconsin public policy are about to merge. Boards of the Wisconsin Taxpayers’ Alliance and Milwaukee’s Public Policy Forum have approved the merger, which takes place at the end of this year. It was prompted by the retirement of Tax Alliance president Todd Berry, who says there’s a growing need for people to hear solid analysis as both sides of issues flood the information sphere with items that Berry calls “at best half true and at worst pure fiction.” Public Policy Forum president Rob Henken says both groups are stable and no personnel cuts are expected, and tax alliance research director Dale Knapp will hold the same post in the merged organization. The tax alliance started 85 years ago, and the policy forum 104 years ago.
