A Republican state lawmaker says high school art students and their teachers should help pick a slogan for Wisconsin license plates. Waukesha Representative Scott Allen is seeking co-sponsors for a bill to let the state’s Art Education Association conduct a contest to pick ten finalists for the governor to choose from. This comes after the head of the state’s largest business group said America’s Dairyland should be dropped as the license plate slogan. Allen’s bill mentions 17 words and phrases that could serve as possible replacements — including “authentic,” “pioneering,” and “approachable.” Dairy groups have come out strongly against the dropping of “America’s Dairyland.”
