The Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin and an environmental law firm say they will sue the federal government over plans for a zinc and gold mine. Aquila Resources wants to build the mine in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Mine opponents say the U-S Army Corps of Engineers and the E-P-A should be handling permits which would let mine operators fill wetlands in the area. The state of Michigan has granted Aquilla three of the four permits it needs. The federal agencies will be given 60 days to take control of the situation, then the mine opponents say they will go to court.
