Members of the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors have decided to cut the budget rather than increase the wheel tax. County Executive Chris Abele warned the cuts will eliminate some popular county attractions and services. He was pushing a 60-dollar vehicle registration fee — double the 30-dollar fee put into place last year. Monday’s vote against the higher wheel tax was 16-to-two. A spokesperson for Abele says the cuts will impact the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Department, County Transit and the Department on Aging.
