The New England Patriots reacquire former Green Bay tight end Martellus Bennett. And at least some Packer players are not sure what happened — whether he had the shoulder injury he claimed, or if he planned his Wednesday’s release to get back to where he won a Super Bowl last year. New England claimed the 30-year-old Bennett off waivers Thursday, right after the Packers let him go for not reporting an injury for which he sat out Monday night’s Detroit game. Bennett only had 24 catches with the Pack and was a non factor since dropping a catch October 15th on the play that knocked out quarterback Aaron Rodgers — and possibly, Bennett’s hopes for a Super Bowl with the Pack. Bennett wrote during the bye week he’d probably retire after this year, but Packers’ linebacker Ahmad Brooks said the tight end showed no evidence of that to him — and on Thursday night Bennett tweeted, “I’ll tell y’all everything one day, but wow.”
