The Marquette men’s basketball team is now 1-1 after losing at home to Purdue on Tuesday night, 86-71. The Golden Eagles were hurt by a size disadvantage, as the Boilermakers used a pair of seven foot two players to outscore the smaller Marquette team 30-12 in the paint. One of those seven footers, Isaac Haas, led Purdue in scoring with 22 points, as the Boilermakers — ranked 21st in the coaches’ poll — outshot Marquette 57-to-40-percent for the game and had a 34-23 rebounding edge. Purdue also made 18 of 23 free throws as it improved to 3-0. Marquette trailed by two at the break despite closing the first half with an 11-2 run, and they never led in the second half as Andrew Rousey led the Eagles with 25 points.
