The U-W Green Bay women’s basketball team uses a strong second half defense to crush the Wisconsin Badgers 67-34 in Madison. The Phoenix led by seven at the half, and they then outscored the Badgers 28-11 in the third quarter to lead by 24 going into the final ten minutes. Wisconsin scored just five points in the fourth quarter — each team helped the other by committing 18 turnovers apiece — and Green Bay outshot Wisconsin 50-to-27-percent, and they hit nine of 20 from three point range. Caitlyn Hibner had 19 points and five rebounds to help U-W Green Bay improve to 2-0 on the young season. Marsha Howard had 13 points and eight boards to lead the Badgers — and Wisconsin made only six of 15 free throws in dropping to 1-1.
