The state D-N-R says a 19-year-old hunter illegally shot an albino deer on Saturday. But he only got a warning, after he thought he could shoot the white deer because it had a brown spot on its head. It happened north of Mondovi in the Pepin County town of Albany, on the opening day of Wisconsin’s nine day gun deer season. D-N-R lieutenant Tyler Strelow tells W-Q-O-W T-V the deer was a true albino with white hooves and pink eyes — and the brown was from the animal rubbing on trees. Officials say the deer was confiscated and given to the Mondovi Conservation Club, which will mount the animal and use it for education.
