The Appleton Fire Department has put a wreath up on the fire station to help raise awareness of fire dangers during the holiday season. Right now the wreath is decorated with green lights, and every time there is a fire during the holiday season, they will change a build to red. The holiday season is the busiest time for firefighter fighters, specifically for kitchen fires. According to the Fire Department, the number one cause of fires during the holiday season is cooking related incidents, followed by decorating with candles. The wreath display is now part of a tradition that started several years ago, and in the past up to five red bulbs have been lit, and after an incident on Wednesday, they have already changed on bulb, but hope that is the only one.
