About ten protesters spend their Thanksgiving Eve urging House Speaker Paul Ryan to pass what they call a “clean Dream Act.” They held signs near Ryan’s Janesville office — and they shared stories of immigrant families who would be broken up if Congress does not pass a new Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals’ program, which prevents deportation for illegal immigrants brought to the U-S as children. President Donald Trump wants to eliminate the Obama era program, but he’s giving Congress time to pass a revised version. Students from the group Voces de la Frontera put on Wednesday’s protest, along with the Youth Empowered in the Struggle. W-I-S-C T-V said the rally had a mobile billboard which read, “Paul Ryan, Thanksgiving is about family — Help stop 800-thousand families from being ripped apart — Pass a clean Dream Act Now by Christmas.”
