The Kiel Fire Department had a busy day on Friday, as they battled a pair of fires. The first was a house fire on the 1200 block of Dewey Street, which was reported at around 12:35 PM. Upon arrival, crews saw flames extending to the roof line. Neighbors attempted to contain the blaze by using garden hoses, and along with fire crews were able to contain the fire to the outside of the home, causing roughly $10,000 in damages. The second fire was reported at 10:30 PM in the 700 block of Center Street. Two residents were transported for smoke inhalation to Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center and released after several hours. Damages estimates for that blaze are roughly $125,000, and the American Red Cross is assisting the residents, as they were displaced. A Kiel Fire Department Ambulance was also sent to the 900 block of Eight Street, to tend to a construction worker who fell from approximately 30 feet. No word on the victim’s condition.
