Police say the body found in the Eau Claire River on Friday has been positively identified as that of 23-year-old Blake Mares. His identity was confirmed after an autopsy in Madison. Television station W-Q-O-W reports that investigators say Mares was last seen on October 20th at about 2:00 A-M. Police said a car was pulled over on the off-ramp leading from Highway 53 to North Crossing. They said Mares jumped out of the car and ran into a wooded area. Altoona Police are working with the Eau Claire Police Department and the Eau Claire Sheriff’s Department in the investigation.
