A spokesperson for the child advocacy group Rebels on a Mission says a father shouldn’t avoid a penalty for child neglect after overdosing with three children in his car. Thirty-four-year-old Christopher Koeberl almost died in the January incident. His eight-year-old son told a dispatcher his father was dead when he called 9-1-1. Koeberl has reportedly reached a plea deal with prosecutors. His attorney says Koeberl has passed several random drug tests and completed drug treatment classes. He says he wants to apply for drug treatment court, which would allow him to avoid some of the felony charges he was facing. Koeberl returns to Waukesha County Court next month for sentencing.
