Ozaukee County prosecutors are considering criminal charges against a driver who killed a fourth grade teacher in a head on crash. Fifty-one-year-old Jill Ruland died Monday night from injuries suffered last Wednesday when an oncoming driver veered into her lane on Highway 60 near Grafton and collided with her auto. Sheriff’s deputies ticketed a 22-year-old Grafton man for driving to the left of the center line, and officials say he was hospitalized with serious injuries that were not life threatening as a woman in his Jeep was also hurt. Ruland started teaching at Grafton Elementary School this fall after a number of years in Mukwonago. Grafton school officials say Ruland brought “positive energy” to her classroom each day — and Mukwonago school officials called her an excellent writing teacher and a passionate runner who started a running club for kids.
