Milwaukeeans are finally about to have their say on a federal review of the city’s police department, including what should be improved. Community meetings are set for tomorrow (Thursday) night and Saturday on a report the U-S Justice Department issued in late August. It says the police don’t communicate clearly enough with the public, make too many traffic stops, and is inconsistent in disciplining its officers. When the report first came out, Police Chief Ed Flynn said it was riddled with errors and a final version would correct them. However, a final version was never written after the Trump administration ended the program that produced the report, and Flynn has said he agrees with most of the original suggestions. The input at this week’s public meetings will go to the aldermen and the city’s Fire and Police Commission.
