A 48 year old Manitowoc man was arrested on Saturday evening after an incident with a gun on the city’s south side. Captain Jason Freiboth said officers responded at around 1:45 PM to a residence in the 1000 block of South 16th Street on a report of a male subject pointing a handgun at a woman. The victim was able to get out of the residence, and it was determined the suspect had existing felony and misdemeanor warrants out for his arrest. Because a firearm was involved, Manitowoc Police asked for assistance from the Special Operations Squad. When efforts to make phone contact with the man proved fruitless, officers approached the residence and eventually made verbal contact with him. The male was ordered out of the house and taken into custody. Captain Freiboth said follow-up interviews were being conducted to determine if additional charges will be pursued in the case.
