A Wisconsin organization which helps train disabled workers and places them in jobs will shut down at the end of this year. Waupaca County Industries has been in operation for more than 30 years. Effective January 1st, people with physical or cognitive disabilities will work with their individual case managers to find programs and jobs in their local communities. County officials say they couldn’t afford to continue. In addition to the 80 members who have depended on W-C-I — in some cases, for decades — about one dozen employees are left without a position, too.
