The trial for a man facing 21 sex crime charges will be moved out of Dane County. Twenty-one-year-old Alec Cook is accused of attacking a series of women between September 2014 and October 2016. It was decided there is a reasonable likelihood of community prejudice in the case, so the change of venue was granted. The new location for the trial isn’t settled yet. Cook and his attorneys have also asked that a notebook found in his apartment not be used as evidence. Investigators say it contains the names of women and what Cook wanted to do to them. Cook’s attorneys say it wasn’t listed in the consent form used by police while they searched his home last October.
