A “joint jury” trial will begin March 7th in Manitowoc County Circuit Court for two of three Chicago men accused of “attempted homicide and false imprisonment” from an incident in the town of Newton. Court records show that 34- year-old Christian Calalang and 28- year-old Christopher Calalang along with 28- year-old Marnie ferry are facing charges stemming from the crimes that occurred April 25th . Ferry is scheduled to appear for a “plea date” January 9th. The criminal complaint states that the victim—a 57 – year-old Chicago man—was taken from his Chicago home and driven to Manitowoc County where he was abandoned after being beaten and thrown into a ditch. After regaining consciousness he was able to walk to a “nearby residence” then taken to a local hospital for treatment. A motive for the crime has not been disclosed. The Calalang’s face up to 66 years in prison—up to a $10 thousand fine or both if convicted on both charges.
