Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker announced yesterday that The Pentagon has chosen Madison’s Truax Field as one of two preferred homes for the new state-of-the-art F-35 fighter squadron by 2023. The Air National Guard’s 115th Fighter Wing will fly the jets, replacing the F-16 fighters currently based there. The decision isn’t final yet. The military will have to conduct an environmental impact study and gather public comments before making the final decision. An Alabama base is also on the Pentagon’s short list.
