Charges against a 56-year-old Eau Claire man have been suspended after he was ruled incompetent to stand trial. Wesley Halliday had been charged with arson and sexual assault. Halliday told police he was burning papers in his stove to get warm. When a woman came to check on his safety, she says Halliday pinned her against the wall of the apartment and sexually assaulted her. The incident happened last month. The arson charge has been dropped and the sexual assault allegations are on hold until Halliday regains competency so he can go on trial.
