The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office says a family is left homeless after a New Year’s Eve fire destroyed their residence in the town of Ashford. Deputies say fire crews were dispatched to the scene at about 8:50 A-M Sunday. Firefighters say the homeowners and their pets got out of the home safely. Deputies say one of the homeowners was treated for smoke inhalation at an area hospital. Fire officials believe the fire started in the chimney and spread to the interior walls of the home. Officials say the house has been deemed a total loss.
