The Manitowoc Two Rivers YMCA is gearing up for their annual Father Daughter Dance on February 2nd at the Holiday Inn in Manitowoc. This is the 17th year of the event in which, according to Barb Schmidt, the Youth and Family Coordinator at the Y, fathers and daughters can form a bond. This year has a theme of the Father/Daughter Sweetheart Dance. Schmidt said the girls don’t necessarily have to bring their father, saying, “Your dad, uncle grandpa, male mentor in your life…spend a little time with them. Make some memories.” The dance has been a very popular event, selling out all 300 places over the past five years. Attendees can expect a lot of fun activities to help form a tight bond. Schmidt told us attendees can expect “…a meal, a DJ, there’s dancing, this year we are going to bring back our photo booth. There still will be the professional picture taken, there will be a charge for those. We will have little crafts for the fathers and daughters to do, which we have put that in the last few years. That just seemed to be a big hit.” Tickets are available at the Y for $23 through January 19th, and after that it jumps to $34. The ticket price covers, “…your meal, dancing, all the photo booth pictures you want, the DJ, and and your crafts,” according to Schmidt. This year, the Y will not be selling tickets at the door, so stop on in at the Y today to ensure your spot at this wonderful bonding experience.
