Recent cold temperatures are being blamed for two major issues on the busy Beltline expressway in Madison Thursday. A 12-vehicle pile-up was caused at about 5:45 a-m when the pavement buckled. The problem cropped up again Thursday evening at 8:30 p-m, when the Beltline was reduced to one lane near Stoughton Road. Cement blocks were put in the roadway and Madison police officers have been directing traffic. Witnesses say the erupting concrete caused several cars to have flat tires. No injuries have been reported.
