A La Crosse County judge has ordered people who didn’t show for jury duty in a high-profile trial to appear in court and explain their absence. Wisconsin state law allows for fines of up to 500-dollars. Potential jurors for the Todd Kendhammer homicide trial are the ones facing a possible contempt of court charge. Twelve summoned jurors failed to appear. Attorneys think the unusually high number may have prompted Judge Todd Bjerke to take the action. Kendhammer was found guilty last month of first-degree intentional homicide.
