Saying Wisconsin needs effective leadership, Madison Mayor Paul Soglin has officially announced he is running for governor. The Democrat had promised he would make the campaign official with a January announcement. Soglin has served multiple terms as Madison mayor since he was first elected in 1973. He hasn’t said if he will also run for re-election in that position. If he wins the primary against at least seven other Democrats, Soglin would likely face incumbent Scott Walker in the general election. Walker is running for a third term.
