An Illinois judge has decided to release an 80-year-old Wisconsin man to a secure living facility after he shot an Amtrak conductor. The DuPage County judge says he doubts Edward Klein of West Allis will be restored to mental fitness where he could face a trial. Klein will be sent to a facility in Wauwatosa. He’s been diagnosed with impaired cognition disorder and dementia. He became disoriented and frustrated last May when he shot conductor Michael Case in the stomach. Case is recovering.
