West Allis Police say a suspected drunk driver admitted taking several drinks while on prescription medication before causing a fatal accident. Police say she had slurred speech and failed field sobriety tests. Her name has yet to be released. The January 30th accident took the life of 78-year-old Kathy Deischel of West Allis. Accident scene investigators say the victim was stopped at a stop sign when her car was hit from behind and pushed into a building. One witness said the driver appeared to be accelerating before hitting Deischel’s vehicle. The grandmother suffered a brain bleed, a spinal fracture, and broken clavicle and pelvis. She died the next day.
