The influenza virus has claimed the lives of a pair of Two Rivers residents. The Manitowoc County Coroner’s office was called on Sunday to a residence in the city to investigate the death of a 48 year old woman. A nasal swab and a review of the woman’s recent medical history confirmed that the cause of death was Influenza A. Meanwhile a 56 year old man that lived in the same residence was transported to a local hospital. The man pronounced dead at an out of county hospital several hours later, also from Influenza A. The deaths correspond to a national trend, where roughly %10 of all deaths since the start of the year have been linked to the flu virus. Medical professionals continue to remind citizens to wash your hands often with soap and water, and to always cover your mouth and nose when you sneeze to help prevent the spread of the virus. No other information has been released, and the names will be released once the family has been notified.
