Bail has been set at $1000 cash for a 32 year old Manitowoc man facing several charges in connection to a police chase early Sunday morning. Eric Czekala is charged with fleeing/eluding, obstruction, and carrying a concealed knife. According to police reports, an officer was on a routine patrol on Franklin Street at around 12:45 AM, when he recognized a passenger in a vehicle from previous encounters. A run of the license plates discovered that 29 year old Christina Bies was the registered owner, and had an active warrant. Czekala, the driver, took off after the officer attempted to pull the unit over. He did eventually stop, and took off on foot. He was captured shortly time later with the aid of K9 Neko. He remains in the county jail with an initial appearance scheduled for next Monday at 2:30 PM. Meanwhile, a search of Bies’ purse uncovered six oval shaped amphetamine pills. She has been charged with possession of a schedule two drug, and is being held in the count jail with her bail hearing set for some time today.
