A 27-year-old suspect pulled off a Houdini act to escape from a deputy’s squad car, steal another squad care, then speed off .
Levi Hedding was pulled over around 10pm Monday due to arrest warrants in his name and suspicion of heroin trafficking according to Adams County sheriff. . Heading attempted to run from the scene but officers were able to apprehend him. While deputies were processing evidence, Hedding managed to escape through the back window of an Adams County squad car, jumped into a Marquette County squad car and took off, leading authorities on an 18-mile chase before losing control, landing in a ditch and hitting a tree. When he tried to run away again, he was chased down by police officers and a police dog.
He is now facing charges of heroin possession with intent to deliver, escape, car theft, driving under the influence of a controlled substance, reckless driving, resisting an officer, drug paraphernalia possession, driving without a license, fleeing and bail jumping.
