Former Manitowoc County Circuit Court Judge Allan Deehr has died. Seehafer News received word of Deehr’s unexpected death Tuesday in Arizona, where he was visiting friends. Allan Deehr was 75 and had been residing in Hawaii. He retired from the bench in 1997 and his successor in Branch 1 was Pat Willis.
Willis, who was a judge until 2012, recalls Deehr presiding over some noted cases including The Hortonville School teachers strike.
Willis said Deehr was an excellent mentor for him when he became a circuit judge in’97.
Meanwhile, retired jurist Jerome Fox of Two Rivers called his late friend a “very gifted judge…. one helluva guy and indestructible.” Fox said they had last seen each other at his retirement party in late July.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time.
