The Silver Lake Lady Lakers came from seven down at halftime to defeat Dean College of Massachusetts 57 to 51 in a division one quarterfinal game at the USCAA National Women’s Basketball Tournament today in Uniontown, Pennsylvania.
We talked with Head Coach Mike Flentje
Coach Flentje said “team defense” carried them to victory.
SLC was led by senior Danelle Buck as the first team All American and Valders graduate recorded a double-double with 17 points and 16 rebounds. Senior Danielle Byrum had 15 points including four-of-six from three-point range and Manitowoc Lincoln grad Hailee Kotche chipped in 13.
The Lady Lakers improve to 22 and 7 and carry a 14 game winning streak into the semifinals Friday morning when they face top seed Paul Quinn College of Dallas Texas who defeated St. Mary’s of the Woods of Terre Haute, Indiana in their quaterfinal game.
But it’s a challenge that the coach says they’re willing to take “head-on”
Tip-time is 10 am central Friday morning.
