Silver Lake College’s English Department will be hosting a literary discussion on “Impurity-the Importance of Literature in Society” tomorrow as a part of their SLC Salon Series. The discussion was inspired by an essay by Mohsin Hamid, a well-known Pakistani author, and will be facilitated by Dr. Albert Sears, a professor of English at SLC. In the essay, Hamid Hamid urges readers to consider the importance of “impurity”, which is the co-mingling of complex ideas, diverse perspectives and world views, in our global society. The talk will begin at noon, in Room 115 of the Franciscan Center for Music Education and Performance on the campus, located at 2406 S. Alverno Road in Manitowoc.
