Lakeshore Technical College invites women to explore advancement through high-tech, high-paying careers at Women Power Manufacturing on March 9 from 8:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. on the LTC Cleveland Campus. Participants will get a close-up look at how they can step into high-paying advanced manufacturing careers including welding, fabrication, machine tool operation, and mechanical design.
Participants will spend the day working with industry-specific technology, hearing from successful women who have followed their career passions in advanced manufacturing, and learning about getting started in an advanced manufacturing program at LTC
“Manufacturing has traditionally been an industry with a majority of male employees,” said Sheila Schetter, LTC dean of manufacturing and engineering. “Today’s manufacturing is clean and high-tech, and is not physical work. We want to give women the opportunity to see themselves succeeding in a manufacturing setting. During Women Power they will have a chance operate a variety of equipment and interact with our instructors and students so they can envision a lucrative career in manufacturing.”
Women Power Manufacturing is a free event open to both high school students and adults, and includes lunch and a t-shirt. More information and event registration can be found at gotoltc.edu/Women-Power.
