The pride of the Wisconsin Maritime Museum, the USS Cobia, will be celebrating her 75th birthday on March 17th. The Cobia has been a major attraction for the museum for the past 48 years, as it is the best preserved World War 2 vessel of its kind. Karen Duvalle is the curator for the Cobia, which has a fascinating history.
The Cobia has been cared for like a baby ever since it was docked in Manitowoc.
To celebrate this significant milestone, the museum will be having a family-fun celebration on Saturday March 17. Reduced admission for the day will be $7.50 per person. The Cobia re-enactors will be on the sub for self-guided tours. There will be educational displays, crafts and games, a scavenger hunt, and a raffle, as well as a cake cutting ceremony noon and a limited number of cupcakes to share. Nicole Fuller will also perform at 11:00 am, 1:00 pm, and 2:00 pm. She’ll be performing 40s and Irish music in the Riverview Room. The museum will be open from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm.
