Milwaukee leaders are moving forward with a measure that would ban the controversial L-G-B-T-Q conversion therapy in the city. A council committee approved the ordinance Thursday. The measure now heads to the full Common Council. The therapy is the practice of trying to change a person’s sexual orientation or gender identity. Alderman Chevalier Johnson sponsored the ordinance. He says the techniques are harmful and ineffective, and that banning them would show the city values its L-G-B-T-Q residents.
