The weekend death of nine-year-old Miyanna Jelks is prompting Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett to call on parents to do more to keep guns out of the hands of children. The city handed out free gun locks Monday night in the neighborhood near 38th and Ruby where Jelks was shot and killed in her home Saturday by her brother. The boy is in juvenile detention and both of their parents have also been arrested. Barrett called it extremely troubling and a complete nightmare and is embarking on an aggressive gun safety campaign this spring. More information on the shooting incident can be viewed here
