Bail was modified from $2000 to $1000 cash today for a 42-year-old Manitowoc man charged with one felony count of child abuse and two misdemeanor counts of child abuse. Court records show that Luis Jimenez waived his preliminary hearing recently and pled not guilty to the aforementioned- charges.
The charges stem from an incident the evening of February 15th where he and his child had just finished eating at Buffalo Wild Wings. Police say the child had trouble opening a car door to the vehicle allegedly making his father angry and causing him to punch the child.
Later that evening he was seen passed out in his vehicle with the child in the backseat. Jimenez denied ever striking the child saying the door accidentally hit the child when it opened. A preliminary breath test showed Jimenez’s blood alcohol content was nearly four times above the legal limit but he does not face any alcohol or driving-related charges. He remains in the County jail and a settlement conference with the District attorney’s Office is scheduled for April Sixth.
