In honor of the 50 year Anniversary. WOMT 1240AM is sharing a piece of Manitowoc history. It was 50 years ago today (March 16) that the 1968 Lincoln High School Basketball Team, with a lot of determination, triumphed over Beloit Memorial in the WIAA State Championship game in Madison 63-51. Led by Coach Ed Fleener, The Ships posted an unbeaten record of 26 victories. A perfect season.
The team consisted of Tom Haag, Pete Hansen, Rocky Jiroch, John LeClair, Pat Mertz, Mark Miller, Mike Muchowski, Ron Nesper, Dick Rosinsky, Bill Sepnafski, Vic Trastek and Pat Walsh.
The day after the big win, about 5,000 people were positioned outside the Mikadow Theater in downtown Manitowoc waiting to congratulate the winning team!
