Russian Twitter accounts are being linked to racial tension in Milwaukee that followed the Sherman Park rioting in August 2016. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports the Russian accounts put out more than 30 tweets blaming Democrats for the unrest and promoting the views of former Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke to both stoke tensions in the area and help drum up support for Donald Trump in the presidential election. Posts started to be made within hours of the fires being set in the Sherman Park neighborhood and received over five-thousand retweets.
