A Sheboygan man is in police custody, after a search of his home uncovered a homemade bomb. Police were called to the home on North 12th Street after the landlord spotted the device in a crib. The apartment had been empty for months before the device was found, while the landlord was cleaning. The device was taken apart by investigators, who discovered it to be filled with sparklers, and gun powder, as well as washers and nuts, which would have acted as fragments to cause additional damage. The device was detonated with help from the Milwaukee County Bomb Squad. Officers located Naelis Vega, who admitted to leaving the crib in the apartment, but denied any connection to the device itself. Vega is facing a felony charge of possessing improvised explosives, and could spend 6 years in prison if found guilty.
