In high school baseball yesterday afternoon, Manitowoc Lincoln jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning over Reedsville and never-looked-back in a 17-0 season opening Victory in 5-innings.. The Ships offense set the tone early by getting on & stealing bases & they sealed the win with a 12 run 4th. Starter Andrew Eberhardt & reliever Braydon Broecker combined for the shutout. Broecker also drove in 4 runs with a pair of 2 run singles. Coach Bruce Steinbecker’s team has another non-conference game at home on Tuesday against Two Rivers. First pitch is at 4:30.
Prior to the game at Municipal Field yesterday a statement from the Manitowoc Lincoln baseball program was read and a moment of silence observed, expressing sorrow for the Reedsville community, after the tragic swimming accident in Alabama Sunday. 17-year old Jevon Lemke, a 3-sport athlete at Reedsville High School, was on a family vacation at Fort Morgan Beach when he was pulled under by a rip current while trying to rescue his parents. He is still missing.
