A Dane County man charged with shooting his wife was deemed not competent to stand trial today in court. Fifty-three-year-old Kory M. Brown of DeForest was facing two counts of attempted murder and one count of intimidating a victim in connection with a February shooting. Brown was committed for treatment. Prosecutors say Brown shot his 49-year-old wife on the side of her head in their DeForest home while she was in bed. Brown told officers that he shot her because he thought she was cheating on him and wanted to teach her a lesson. Brown’s wife claims she never cheated on him. The woman had plans to leave Brown after three years of marriage and had told her attorney on Monday to file the divorce papers. She claimed Brown has become “jealous and angry.”
