St. Francis city officials will meet with two candidates for the 1st District aldermanic seat this (Thursday) morning at 10:00 A-M.  The race between Steve Wattawa and challenger Laura Martin ended in a tie, with each candidate receiving 253 votes.  The St. Francis Clerk says the last tie in a city election was more than 30 years ago.  The determination of a winner will be done by random process — a coin flip, picking a card or drawing a name out of a hat.  The election results will be certified at today’s meeting and the candidates will have the opportunity to challenge the certification and petition for a recount.
