That’s local builder and city councilman, Mike Howe, who along with three investors is in the early stages of redeveloping the former Strand Theatre into a multi-faceted indoor sports & activity complex. Howe spoke with Seehafer News today about the estimated $1-million dollar project, which officially began two months ago inside the huge 3 story building.
The Strand had the capacity to show 6 movies at one time until it closed 7-years ago. While he’s renovating the interior, Howe is also respectful of the past.
Howe envisions that while there will be activities for adults there are many options for kids as well.
Howe explained that his team is working with 3-financial institutions in what is a new TIF District in the downtown and near northside area. He’s hopeful of having the renovation work completed by the end of this year in time for a Christmas opening.
