Experts say Dane County has a number of resources available for those dealing with mental health issues, but they aren’t accessible for everyone. The county will spend 100-thousand dollars to search out the gaps in the available services. The county spends tens of millions of dollars each year, yet not every resident gets help. Many people with issues wind up in jail. The study will determine whether Dane County needs to establish a crisis restoration center. Other possible needs are community-based service — outside hospitals, institutions and jails — and programs to help people will services from setting doctor appointments to searching for housing.
