On Wednesday, April 11th at 3:00 p.m., we invite the media to listen as the parents of two local families talk through the birth of their child under the direction of two of our very talented Brown County Public Safety Communications dispatchers and help them prepare for their arrival. Watch as those Telecommunicators get to meet the parents and the child they helped bring into the world.

“In that moment of great need, the public can rest assured that when they dial 911 our telecommunicators are prepared to help with their crisis,” says County Executive Troy Streckenbach. “We’re extremely proud and grateful for the work and service that our telecommunicators provide to the residents of Brown County. Please join us in honoring them during National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week.”

Telecommunicators will be honored for two separate days of performance for their roles in T.E.A.M incidents. Officer Brian Murphy will also be honored for his heroic fight to return to work following injuries sustained from being hit on the highway while working a traffic accident. The dispatchers working during that accident have been nominated for an award recognizing their work during that event.

A local Registered Nurse will also be honored for her efforts that helped save the life of a woman when she was forced to take a detour on her way to work. She will have the opportunity to meet the woman she helped to save for the first time ever at the awards ceremony.

Additional awards to be given include Telecommunicator of the Year, Lead Telecommunicator of the Year, Customer Service award, EMD (Emergency Medical Dispatch) awards, and the Quiggles Spirit Award given in memory of the late Brown County Dispatcher Judy Quigley, who passed away in 2006 after a valiant fight with cancer.

After the awards ceremony at approximately 4:00 p.m., we will host the 4th Annual Fire Department Chili Cook-Off in the Lauri Gulbrand Training Room with a handful of local competitors. Please join us with the local fire departments to taste, vote and perhaps receive some cooking secrets from the fire department entrants!
