Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett is singling out paint as the main source of lead poisoning in the city’s children.  At City Hall Monday, Barrett blamed paint companies for trying to blame dirty water for the problem in an attempt to get out of paying millions of dollars to victims’ families through settlements or court orders.  Critics like the Freshwater Life for Action Coalition contend, however, that the city has not been testing the water for lead when doing environmental assessments of homes where children have been found to have high blood-lead levels.
