Police say two people were killed when their car was involved in a crash with a city garbage truck on Madison’s west side. Madison police say the wreck happened Wednesday at about 1 P-M on Mineral Point Road. Investigators say it appeared the car rear-ended a city of Madison garbage truck. Police spokesman Joel Despain says the car was moving at a high rate of speed when it hit the stopped garbage truck. Police say the truck was stopped at a red light when it was struck by the car. The driver of the car died at the scene, while the passenger died at the hospital. The victims, who have not been identified, were in their 70s.
